We are a traditional Afghani family; we have held a long time dream to open a restaurant to
showcase our homeland food to the Brisbane community.
We called our restaurant Bamiyan after a city in Afghanistan. Aside from its great food, the city also
housed a historic Buddhist monastery and the Buddha’s of Bamiyam, large statues carved into the
side of the mountains. The Taliban destroyed much of this city, including the carvings that were
thought to be from the 4 th or 5 th Century AD.
